ROX #62: XY in NY

B: In 1996, ROX #62, “XY in NY,” was featured in the Low Res Film Festival in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Later the same year, “XY in NY” was seen at the 25th International Film Festival in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

B: Some people are confused about what Xy stands for and how to pronounce it. You might have heard that XY is the male chromosome. This is true, but that's a mere coincidence.

Xy is the name of the ROX tour guide, who also happens to be the love of my life and the song of my heart. I can assure you that she is female.

X stands for Christ, as any good Xian knows. Thus the expression, “Merry Xmas.” As for Y, well, that stands for why as in “Christ, why did you do that?” This is something I ask around our house on an alarmingly frequent basis.

It ain't pretty.

Not totally surprising - interns anywhere are usually little more than glorified slave labor - but XY actually makes it into her own little socio-political statement.
